Unexpected Promotions and Arranged Marriages: Navigating Life's Surprising Twists

Today, I received a surprising promotion at work. I hadn’t even applied for it! I’m unsure about who else on the team might have been promoted, but that’s not my main concern right now. I’m overjoyed with this unexpected turn of events. It feels like I haven’t been putting in much effort, yet things are falling into place.

In my romantic life, there are some updates to share. After much deliberation with my dad, I’ve decided to give arranged marriage a chance. Fortunately, my mom is on board with this decision as well. I must admit, this arrangement is remarkably convenient.

However, there’s a minor hiccup – the girl I’m communicating with is quite slow at responding to texts. She replied to my introduction text a few minutes after I had already gone to sleep last night. Consequently, I had to respond to her shortly after waking up. This might have given her a false impression that I’m also a late responder. Truth be told, I’m anything but that! Handling long-distance communication is not my strong suit, and I believe it’s better for someone to get to know me in person. It reminds me of my experiences with Hinge dates, but with the added pressure of family involvement.

The best-case scenario would be that we agree to get married in three years, while the worst-case scenario would be that she’s already in a relationship and feels pressured to talk to me. I wish I could just ask her directly. For now, I’ll go with the flow and see where this journey takes us.
