Awkward Encounters
You might be wondering—another blog post so soon? Indeed, because today brought something unexpectedly intriguing to the forefront, and I’m eager to dive into it.
Let’s start with a quick status update. Lately, my professional life has demanded an intense 50-hour workweek, leaving me drained and scarcely able to devote time to my own business. Thankfully, my brother has stepped in, managing it with a diligence that starkly contrasts my current overwhelmed state—a state that’s become my new normal since she exited my life.
Speaking of which, let’s pivot to the crux of today’s post—the interesting turn of events. A couple of days ago, my dad sent us a photo where he was captured greeting the Minister of External Affairs at a local event. However, it wasn’t the minister who caught my eye but the person beside my dad, wearing a familiar smile that tugged at my memory. Despite my efforts, I couldn’t immediately place where I had seen that smile before.
Fast forward to today, as I pondered whether to share the photo with friends, the connection suddenly clicked—the man in the photo is her father. What are the odds? My dad, seated beside her dad at a significant event. The irony of the situation isn’t lost on me, and it explains my dad’s unusual silence post-event. Perhaps he’s wrestling with guilt, or maybe it’s the awkwardness of the encounter. Regardless, part of me finds amusement in this coincidence, while another part feels a twinge of sadness for what might have been—daydreams now firmly grounded in reality.
In the grand scheme, I’m left pondering the unpredictable nature of life and fate’s hand in our journeys. Who knows what the future holds?
